BIA hails govt for lifting tax on profits of policy holders

 The Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) has hailed the government for withdrawing 10 percent source tax on the profits of the insurance policy holders.

BIA Chairman Sheikh Kabir Hossain in a statement Thursday hailed the decision of the government and thanked the finance minister for taking such a positive step which would help expand the industry.

The finance minister at his 2012-13 budget proposal recommended 10 percent tax at source on the benefit of the policy holders.

Talking to daily sun Sheikh Kabir Ahmed said the decision of the finance minister will help expand the industry as well as inspire the small savers to come forward in opening insurance policy.
