BB recognises another credit rating agency

Bangladesh Bank on Thursday gave recognition to another credit rating agency to expand rating system in the country’s financial sector, said central bank officials.
The BB issued a circular saying that Alpha Credit Rating Ltd had been recognised as eligible external credit assessment institution in addition to the existing five rating agencies.
The five credit rating agencies, which received BB recognition earlier, are CRISL, CRAB, NCRL, ECRL and ACRSL.
The BB circular said that all the scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh might nominate any one or more rating agencies to their own and counterparty credit rating for the purpose of calculating risk weight asset against credit risk as per risk based capital adequacy guidelines of the central bank.
