Foundation stones of 3 terminals at Benapole land port laid
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Saturday said the country's premier land port at Benapole would be upgraded to a world standard port.
He said this while laying foundation stones of three terminals at the land port in Benapole on Saturday noon.
The three terminals are being built at a cost of Taka 25 crore for modernisation of the Benapole land port. The terminals are: International Terminal, Port Bus Terminal and Exporters Terminal. The minister said the government has taken the initiative to hold trial of those who committed crimes against humanity in 1971.
But their allies are now hatching conspiracies to foil the move, he added. He urged all to remain alert against the conspiracies.
The shipping minister said the present government would do everything possible for the development of Benapole land port. The face of the port would be changed in next six months.
The government has taken a plan to turn the Benapole port into a digital land port and introduce automation system.
Presided over by Bangladesh Land Port Authority Chairman KM Yahia Chowdhury, the function was addressed by Alhaj Sheikh Afil Uddin, MP, port authority director Abdul Mannan Hawladar, port authority secretary Ikhteyar Ahmed, Commissioner Abdul Mannan Shikdar and Deputy Commissioner Nurul Amin, among others..
