COX’S BAZAR: Teknaf land port exceeded the target of monthly revenue income last month realising over Tk 89.9 million as monthly revenue income against 222 bills of entry in February, sources said.
According to sources, National Board of Revenue (NBR) fixed target of Tk 70.2 million revenue income for last month. Teknaf land port authority earned revenue on export-import goods to and from Bangladesh and Myanmar under border trade.
The port officials hoped that revenue income will increase in current month.
On the other hand, the port earned revenue of Tk 11.1 million against 54 bills of entry from export goods to Myanmar. Border trade businessmen said, import increased but export fell last month due to realisation of additional charges from traders by some employees of the port.
Minister for Shipping and Inland Water Transport Authority Shahjahan Khan visited Teknaf land port on Thursday. During his visit the Shipping Minister talked to land port officials and businessmen engaged in border trade. The traders informed the minister about the problems of the port.
