Don’t pay heed to rumors: DSE chief
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) president M Rakibur Rahman on Monday urged the investors not to get panicked and pay any heed to rumors as the investors got confused over a writ petition filed against the regulators’ directive.

“We met attorney general Mahbub-e-Alam in the morning…he said the High Court didn’t issue any stay order on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) directives regarding sponsors and directors 2 per cent share holding,” Rahman told UNB over phone.

The DSE president said, “I hope the investors will understand the matter and remain active in the stock market. I request the investors to invest in good companies analysing fundamentals.” He said they would present relevant papers regarding the SEC directives in the court to prove that the SEC gave the directive in the greater interest of the investors. “Hope, we’ll be able to do that under the leadership of the attorney general.”

DSE chief executive officer Dr Mosharraf Hossain, senior vice-president Ahmad Rashid, vice-president M Shahjahan, Chittagong Stock Exchange chief executive officer Syed Sajid Husain and SEC representative were present during the meeting with the Attorney General. —UNB
