Measures soon to resolve power crisis in Ctg RMG sector
Necessary measures will be taken soon to resolve power crisis in ready-made garment factories in the port city.
Power Development Board (PDB) Chief Engineer Md Raisuddin Sarker gave the assurance at a views exchange meeting with leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at the latter’s regional office at Khulshi in the port city on Thursday.
The PDB chief engineer said they are sincere about giving supply of power to the garment industry as it is the country’s largest export revenue earner.
He also assured the BGMEA leaders of informing them beforehand about the snapping of power supply to any garment factory, and developing e-technology for timely distribution of bills in future.
Earlier, presiding over the meeting, BGMEA First Vice President Nasir Uddin gave a brief on the overall power supply situation in the garment factories in Chittagong.
He said their production is disrupted and sometimes even machineries and equipment go out of order due to frequent power outage.
He requested the PDB authorities to ensure quick replacement of transformers immediately after they burst in areas where garment factories are located.
