DCCI for re-introducing Karachi-Ctg ferry service |

Dhaka Chamber President Asif Ibrahim urged Pakistan to initiate actions for re-launching the Karachi-Chittagong sea line cargo ferry services. He stressed the need for better connectivity of regional trade in South Asia, remarking the zone a near future business hub as the regional leaders are working to this end. Asif said this while the Pakistan High Commissioner to Dhaka Afrasiab called on him at the DCCI city office on Saturday. Referring to the historical, cultural, religious, trade and economic linkages with Pakistan, the DCCI chief said, as both the countries are the members of WTO, SAARC, SAPTA, SAFTA, GSTP, OIC, D-8 and such other bodies, we have the common platform to work together. He said the present trade volume between the two countries is quite disappointing while emphasizing the option for more trade between the tow brotherly countries. He said Bangladesh welcomes Pakistani investment in different sectors like textile, agro-based, industries, shipbuilding etc and assured all co-operations to bring trade and investment to a new height. He also opined that the local investors may put investment in Pakistan, specially in the knit textile, pharmaceuticals and leather products. Pakistan has tremendous economic potentials, he said. Trade Promotion Officer of Pakistan High Commission Akmal and senior DCCI directors and executives were present on the occasion. |
