 Shafiq Tuhin, who won hearts of millions with his popular numbers like “Er beshi bhalobasha jay na”, “Bhalobasha niyo”, “Surjomukhi” and “Paglami”, has ventured into a new world—the glittery world of silver screen. The singer is now composing songs for an upcoming Bangla movie.

“Bhalobasha Aaj Kal is my debut film as a music director. Though I did title songs of two movies, including Chhotto Ektu Bhalobasha and Anya Rakam Bhalobasha earlier, it will be my first project as a complete music director. Directed by PA Kajol, Bhalobasha Aaj Kal is a romantic film under the banner of Jazz Multimedia,” said Tuhin.

“For the film, we have already recorded ‘Aaj kal ba porshu noy’, the title song featuring me and Kona as singers. Indian singing duo KK and Shreya Ghoshal are expected to lend voice to a few songs of the film,” he added.

Apart from this, the singer is also busy working for his third solo album which is yet to be titled. “I am now selecting lyrics for my third solo through which my fans will discover me in a different way as it will feature a few melo-rock and alternative numbers,” Tuhin informed.

“Besides live shows, I am also working on a few mixed-albums. A melodious song ‘Akasher rang’ will be incorporated in Asif Iqbal’s album and another two songs of mine will be added in Tanbhir Tariq’s mixed album,” he continued.

A luminous lyricist, a music composer-director, a singer with gifted voice and the soul of an adda; Shafiq Tuhin wears many hats and they fit him well.

For his song “Er beshi bhalobasha jay na”, Tuhin received nationwide mass popularity as a singer who began his journey into the world of music as a lyricist. But inside the lyricist, a singer-composer was always present, which explains Tuhin’s wonderful lyrics and tunes.

It was in his student days in Dhaka University (DU) that Tuhin got into the arena of singing. DU has always been a hub of cultural activities and Tuhin was reluctant to let go any opportunity associated with music and singing.

After his debut in the music scene, there was no looking back for the young lyricist. To date Tuhin’s songs have been sung by some of the big names of the musical arena of Bangladesh – Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Ayub Bachchu, Andrew Kishore, Asif and the names goes on.

But no matter how successful Shafiq Tuhin may be as a lyricist, his heart was always into singing and the long cherished wish came true in 2010 with the release of his first solo album Swapno Ebong Tumi. The album received a good response; and it turned out to be more than just a realisation of a dream.

The song “Er beshi bhalobasha” turned out to be a smashing hit topping on charts, and gave him instant success.
