Automobile manufacturing policy by July: minister
The industries ministry will introduce an automobile manufacturing policy by July to reduce discrimination among the manufacturers, industries minister Dilip Barua said at a pre-budget discussion at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital Monday evening.
He said the ministry would also arrange meeting with local manufacturers and assemblers of motorcycle, refrigerator, television, and air conditioner, NBR and FBCCI to discuss duty cut and the policy.
Barua said, ‘We will not give benefit to some manufacturers, but will give opportunity to all manufacturers for rapid growth of the industry.’
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry AK Azad urged to protect local industry.
He also said within two to three years import of the items should be discouraged.
The Bangladesh Motorcycle Manufacturers and Assemblers Association and the Bangladesh Electronics Merchants Association organised the discussion.
