Pakistani businessmen urged to invest in apparel sector |

Commerce Minister GM Quader Wednesday urged the Pakistani businessmen to invest in Bangladesh apparel and textile sector.
“Pakistani is the world’s leading cotton exporting country and taking this advantage, Pakistani businessmen can invest in Bangladesh’s textile and garment sector,” said the commerce minister while inaugurating the 5-day fair of Pakistani products at Hotel Rupashi Bangla here.
He assured that Bangladesh government is ready to offer various investment friendly opportunities, including duty concession, saying that both sides will be benefited through their investment in Bangladesh where labour cost is very low.
Pakistani High Commission (PHC) in Dhaka and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised the fair.
Pakistan’s Handicraft Manufacturers Association president Shirin Akter Khan, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president A K Azad, Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Afzal Mahmud, Export Promotion Bureau vice- chairman Subhash Bose, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce (DCCI) president Asif Ibrahim and RCCI president Jabed Akhter Batti, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Speaking at the programme as the chief guest, Quader said Bangladesh’s ceramic and pharmaceutical products earned international standard and Pakistan can import these two products from Bangladesh.
Laying emphasis on boosting communication between the business community of both the countries, Quader said Bangladesh needs to organize fair of its products in Pakistan to expand its market.
Pakistan High Commissioner Afzal Mahmud, in his speech, said there is huge potentials for expanding businesses between the two countries. — BSS |
