Kite festival in Manikganj
Zahangir Shah, Manikganj
A traditional kite festival was held at Jhitka-Poddarbari under Harirampur upazila in Manikganj on Friday.

Jatiya Lok-Sahitya Sangraha and Gabeshona Kendro, an organisation,

held the festival to observe the birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Around 50 varieties of kites including “Koira”, “Potinga”, “Chila”, “Dol”, “Baj”, “Shapa”, “Projapoti”, “Moyur”, “Chyakmukha”, “Phul”, “Manush guddi” and more fluttered in the sky to the delight of around 1,000 enthusiastic people. Their delight reached a crescendo as 100s of kites took to the air.

Earlier, Golam Mohiuddin, administrator of Manikganj Zila Parishad and president of Manikganj district unit Bangladesh Awami League, formally inaugurated the festival as chief guest. Ranjan Kumer Saha, secretary and
