BASIS demands Tk 120cr in budget for IT sector
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services on Monday urged the finance minister to allocate at least Tk 70 crore for development of information and communication technology industry in the budget for FY2012-13.
BASIS members on Monday evening met with finance minister at his office where BASIS members also asked for Tk 50 crore for training up 10,000 IT professionals in next two years.
They also demanded withdrawal of 15 per cent VAT on internet use, withdrawal of VAT on e-commerce transactions and developing five software technology parks in Dhaka.
Among others, BASIS president in-charge Fahim Mahsroor, vice president Farhana A Rahman, secretary general Forkan Bin Kashem were present at the meeting.
