Booking for ready flats ups as REHAB fair concludes
The REHAB Fair, which concluded on Sunday, drew considerable crowd giving the realtors hope for a positive change in the housing sector in the coming days.
A significant number of visitors started gathering on the fair premises after opening at 11.00 am on the day. The number of visitors soared significantly by afternoon.

Many of the visitors were seen gathering information from the pavilions and stalls of real estate companies, house building financing organisations and construction-related companies.
A state-owned bank official Khondoker Mohiuddin came to the fair to gather information as he was planning to use the house building loan.
"I need suitable investment opportunity to utilise the money I expect to receive from my office," he said.

He also said he had been looking for information regarding small-sized flats around 1,000-square feet.

"I collected brochures from numerous real estate companies. The fair has become an excellent opportunity to collect required information from a single platform," he said.

Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) organised the five-day fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).
Finance Minister A M A Muhith inaugurated the fair on Wednesday.
As many as 160 REHAB members, 22 building material companies, and 10 financial institutions took part in the fair in 175 stalls.

East West Property Development (Pvt) Limited General Manager (Marketing and Sales) Md Akteruzzaman Likhon told the FE they received huge response from the visitors this year. "We are overwhelmed with the customers' interest in our projects," he said.

He also said the company received booking for more than 25 plots in the first four days of the fair, while many showed interest to buy in near future.
While talking to the FE, most of the companies' representatives said the response from the prospect buyers is "remarkable" this year.

Amin Mohammad Lands Development limited's Assistant General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Md Khairul Islam said that his company has received over 50 bookings for plots in various projects.
"A good number of visitors registered with us already, who will confirm their buying in future," he said.

Asked about the success of the event, REHAB Director Kamal Mahmud said the fair drew nearly 20,000 visitors in the first four days, while the last day was brought the highest number of visitors.

"This year's event has become the most successful in several years. Most of the visitors are showing real interest to buy flats," he said.
The facility for housing loan at single-digit interest rate has created hope among the prospective buyers, he added.

Besides, the number of booking has increased this year for the availability of a significant number of ready-flats, he said.
"This year 24 companies became co-sponsors of the fair, which helped the fair become more attractive," he said.
The success of the fair will be a turning point for the sluggish real estate sector in the country, he noted.
