Asian ADRs Edge Higher in Wednesday Trading
American depository receipts of Asian stocks were trading 0.18% higher at 147.39 on the Bank of New York Mellon Asia ADR Index on Wednesday.

In North Asia, the gainers were led by aluminum producer Aluminum Corporation of China ( ACH ), and Gridsum ( GSUM ), a provider of cloud-based data analytics solutions in China, which rose 5.4% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by electronics and entertainment giant Sony ( SNE ), higher 2.6%, and railroad operator Guangshen Railway ( GSH ), up 1.7%.

The decliners in North Asia were led by semiconductor firm Semiconductor Manufacturing International ( SMI ), which fell 4.4%. Airline operators China Eastern Airlines (CEA) and China Southern Airlines (ZNH) dropped 3% and 2.3% respectively, while telecommunications provider China Unicom (CHU) also moved 2.3% lower.

In South Asia, the only gainer was IT services firm SIFY Technologies (SIFY), which rose 1.3%.

Automobile manufacturer Tata Motors (TTM) led the decliners in South Asia, falling 0.6%, as did pharmaceutical firm Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY). Direct-to-home video provider Videocon d2h (VDTH) was down 0.5%, while Indonesian telecommunications company Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK) was off 0.4%.
