Garment accessories makers seek incentives, tax cut
Country's garment accessories makers placed a number of demands to the government including duty-free import of fire safety equipment, incentives and cut in tax at source and corporate tax for the next fiscal year 2017-18.

Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) in a recent proposal made to the National Board of Revenue also sought duty-free import of fireproof paint.

Fire Service and Civil Defence is not issuing fire licences to the factories built with prefabricated materials without fireproof paint, Abdul Kader Khan, president of BGAPMEA, said in a letter sent to the NBR recently.

Due to high duty, import of such paint becomes expensive and as a result, a good number of companies could not go for production, he said demanding duty-free import of fireproof paint for export-oriented companies' buildings constructed using prefabricated materials.
